Boobs4Food SF Mar2010 Event: Chinatown Community Development Center

Roots.

This March, Boobs4Food SF has decided to go back to our roots and partner with a neighborhood near and dear to our hearts. On Sunday March28th, 2010, we will serve lunch to the senior citizens and families of Chinatown, many who are residents of the Ping Yuen Housing Project, on behalf of the Chinatown Community Development Center in the heart of San Francisco’s Chinatown at Gordon J. Lau Elementary School (950 Clay St. at Powell).

SF Chinatown is important to Boobs4Food as our parents and grandparents lived in Chinatown when they first immigrated to America from Taiwan. Our parents slept on the ground and awoke to the rattling of cable cars climbing up Jackson St in the early morning hours and ate dinner off brown paper bag wrapped produce crates. From these humble beginnings, our parents were able to provide education & the comfortable life Boobs4Food is able to have today.

The Mission of the Chinatown Community Development Center is to build community and enhance the quality of life for San Francisco residents. Based in the Chinatown neighborhood, Chinatown CDC also serves other San Francisco neighborhoods, including North Beach and the Tenderloin. The CDC is a community development organization with many roles, serving as neighborhood advocates, organizers, planners, as developers and managers of affordable housing. The Chinatown CDC Offers a number of programs, housing counseling, housing development, property management, and tenant services.

Look out for more details specific to the food drive that will begin with our benefit concert food drive at Element Lounge Saturday February 20th 5:30pm – 7:00pm with DDL Roundhouse taking the stage. If you are able to make a corporate donation to the Chinatown Community Development Center, please contact info at boobs4food dot com.
